Our Story
The origin story of Bad Dog 20/20 started with CharlieMeyer and Tiffany Malanaphy as founding members in 2019. The initial lineup was front man CharlieMeyer on bass and vocals, Tiffany on drums and vocals, Mitch Laue on lead guitar and vocals, Joe Grimelli on rhythm guitar, and David "Meat" Protsman, sound technician. Michael Dean Chandler was next to fill the guitar seat. Until the fateful day when Bad Dog's path finally crossed with David Lee Kirkeby. Swiping Dave from the Cedar Rapids area music scene, the band really began to make some waves! A roadie and light technician, Mason Lightfoot, was also brought on to help pull off the huge stage show that Bad Dog was always reaching for. Cody Reed was brought in shortly after that on rhythm guitar to round out that Bad Dog sound. Life drew Cody to Minneapolis and created a void that Jill Wilson was called to fill. Mason went on to sound technician school in Nashville and came back to take over sound under the continued tutelage of Meat. With Jill on keyboard, her husband Ted Wilson was brought on board to breathe new life and energy into Bad Dog 20/20. Ted moved into the light technician role, as well as stage management and setup. Which was just about to be taken to the next level with CharlieMeyer's invention of STAGEFRIGHT. At this point, Bad Dog 20/20 had finally lived up to the saying "It's a show, be a show!" June 23rd, 2025, life as Bad Dog 20/20 knew it was shaken by the death of their brother in Rock, CharlieMeyer. Todd Kramme was able to jump in on short notice on bass and vocals to fill in for the upcoming shows for the summer of 2025. In addition to the hole in their hearts, they had a new hole in the band to fill full-time. David Lee Kirkeby was out seeing some live music when he was amazed by the stage presence and talent of Willy J. Willy J agreed to sit in for an audition on bass, and that brings us to the lineup we have today.
Bad Dog 20/20 has had the opportunity to perform many incredible shows in the tri-state area, including town festivals, venue celebrations, weddings, and other private parties. If you're looking to have a fun time with a high-energy live music experience, we are your band. We like to say there's something for everyone with covers from Adele to ZZ Top and everything in between.
